Terrien’s degeneration

This man presents with an unusual cornea and shifting prescription.

He has Terrien’s Marginal Degeneration, and this is a classical presentation. Note the irregular white deposits at the periphery, separated from the limbus by a gutter.

Cause unknown.

The problem is a slow progressive shift in refraction. It’s too late once it has happened.

All we can do is low dose long-term steroids, and avoid ANY surgery unless absolutely necessary.
